You might as well start to get comfortable with using ds9. It's free, very commonly used in astronomy, and available for just about any platform.
Most coherent, developed, tested materials
ds9 Tutorials from Luisa's official NITARP tutorial (Jan 2013):
- Part 1: ds9 overview - what is ds9, etc (10.5 min)
- Part 2: the first half of the ds9 demo - getting it started, basics of usage (19 min)
- Part 3: the second half of the ds9 demo - more advanced tips and tricks (25 min)
