Notes - Discussed basic outline of project; Decided on Tuesdays for after school meeting this spring from 3:10 to 4 pm; Looked at locations of the 3 BRCs in planetarium; Talked about Solar Eclips 5/20/12 and Transit of Venus 6/5/12 - solar shade glasses given out;
Homework - Absolutely do #1 & 2; 3 & 4 if you have time
1. Read the wiki pages above (Studying young stars and Background on Young Stars); Write down ANY questions/comments/confusion you have - we learn by asking questions;
2. Visit these web pages - read about the electromagnetic spectrum and again make note of any questions/comments/confusion - NASA Image the Universe - Part 1, [1], Part 2, [2]; Browse this site, [The Infrared Universe], which shows why looking at the universe with infrared light is important - be sure to look at the Star Formation link.
3. APOD - Astronomy Picture of the Day - You can search the archive of this site for images of our BRCs. BRC 27 is part of the Seagull Nebula; BRC 34 and 38 are part of IC 1396, also called the Elephant's Trunk Nebula but that is really the name of one particular feature in the nebula.
